Pioneer Corporation specializes in manufacturing and selling audio and video equipment for home, industrial, and automotive applications. Additionally, the company produces and markets visual and music software and media, including DVDs and CDs, and licenses its patented optical disk technologies to other enterprises.
In recent years, Pioneer Corporation has utilized its product development and manufacturing expertise, along with data-driven services, to create solutions aimed at addressing social challenges and enhancing mobility experiences.
Challenge: Pioneer Corporation encountered a major challenge in ensuring the accurate translation of patent claims into Indonesian. In early January 2011, the company initiated the National Phase Application in Indonesia, referencing International PCT Application No. PCT/IP2008/068580, through a reputable Indonesian intellectual property law firm. Since the original patent description, claims, and drawings were in foreign languages, they needed to be translated precisely into Indonesian. The IP law firm typically responsible for managing the patent application also undertakes this translation as part of the application process.
Solution: At the end of January 2011, Pioneer Corporation engaged Inventis Patent Attorneys to translate the claims from Indonesian back into English. The objective was to ensure that the Indonesian submissions to the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) maintained the same technical accuracy as the original English documents.
